Looking for a delicious, healthy dessert or snack for the holidays that is easy to make and sure to please? This homemade, warm applesauce is the perfect choice. You can make this in an instant pot or on the stove top. It’s quick and delicious, sugar free, and full of flavor.

After a particularly large harvest from our local pick-your-own apple orchard, I searched for something to do with the apples before they went bad. This applesauce was so easy to make and was delicious. It’s great to make with bruised apples.

Instant Pot Directions:

Peel, core, and chop two pounds of apples. Put them in the instant pot, and add about a cup of water. Sprinkle with 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon (or more!), 1 teaspoon ground ginger, and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg. Cover the instant pot and set to sealing. Set to manual, high pressure for seven minutes. Do a quick release. Mash up the apples with a fork, or use a blender for a smoother consistency.

Stove Top Directions:

Peel, core, and chop two pounds of apples. Put them in a saucepan, and add about a cup of water. Sprinkle with 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon (or more!), 1 teaspoon ground ginger, and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg. Bring to a boil and then simmer for half an hour or so. Mash up the apples with a fork, or use a blender for a smoother consistency.

Serve warm over vanilla ice-cream for apple-pie vibes, top with granola, use it as an add-in for a bowl of oatmeal, or eat with cinnamon graham crackers. Or just eat it plain! We loved it warm best, but it is good out of the fridge, too. It will keep for about a week in the fridge. Enjoy!
