School is back in session! We want to help make it a great year for you with nature activities you can use in the classroom. We’ll post an Activity for the Week every Saturday morning. You can also see previous activity ideas HERE

This week: Go hunting with a camera!

Choose a “camera day” in which students may bring cameras, cell phones, or tablets to class. Take a few minutes to talk about the wildlife they might find around the school yard. Tell the students to try to “capture” the wildlife in a photo. This can include insects, birds, plants — even a landscape. Then head outside to see what you can find. When you’re finished,  have the students choose their three favorite photos to show to the class. Identify the main plant/animal in the photo. If necessary, look online or in field guides from the library.
