This weekend, head outside after dark for a game of flashlight tag!

There are many variations of the game. Here’s the easiest way to play:

  1. Designate one person as “it”.
  2. Decide the boundaries for the game.
  3. As “it” counts (to 30 or more), all other players hide somewhere within the boundaries. If it’s dark enough, just lying flat on the ground may be sufficient for hiding.
  4. “It” begins searching with a flashlight. If someone is caught in the light, he or she becomes “it”, and the first player can go hide.

Another way to play is in a way similar to freeze tag:

  1. Designate one person as “it” and decide the boundaries for the game.
  2. As “it” counts, all other players hide.
  3. “It” begins searching with a flashlight. When someone is caught in the light, he or she must freeze in that place until another hider tags and “unfreezes” him.
  4. The game ends when all hiders have been found and frozen.

Now head outside and hide!
