Welcome, summer! Today is the first day of summer, also known as the summer solstice. In the Northern Hemisphere, this is when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky, making it the longest day of the year. Here are some fun ways you can celebrate the season:

  1. Try to catch the sunrise AND the sunset
  2. Plant sunflower seeds in your yard (or any other wildflower)
  3. Cut open a watermelon and enjoy with friends
  4. Plan a picnic at your favorite park
  5. Have a bonfire and roast marshmallows
  6. If you’re near water, have a cannonball contest
  7. If you aren’t near water, make a slip and slide
  8. Buy lemons and make fresh lemonade
  9. Go strawberry/blueberry picking
  10. Have a corn hole tournament in the yard
