This weekend, head outside after dark for a game of flashlight tag!
There are many variations of the game. Here’s the easiest way to play:
- Designate one person as “it”.
- Decide the boundaries for the game.
- As “it” counts (to 30 or more), all other players hide somewhere within the boundaries. If it’s dark enough, just lying flat on the ground may be sufficient for hiding.
- “It” begins searching with a flashlight. If someone is caught in the light, he or she becomes “it”, and the first player can go hide.
Another way to play is in a way similar to freeze tag:
- Designate one person as “it” and decide the boundaries for the game.
- As “it” counts, all other players hide.
- “It” begins searching with a flashlight. When someone is caught in the light, he or she must freeze in that place until another hider tags and “unfreezes” him.
- The game ends when all hiders have been found and frozen.
Now head outside and hide!
